Coaching

Group and individual coaching is available for all ages and ability levels. We also offer pairs lessons for 2 people who are of a similar level and would like to work together.

As you will see from the coaching timetable there are plenty of options and something for everyone.

Junior Squash

There are classes available to children age 2+ and we cater for every ability level. We have beginners through to national champions and have created a development pathway that allows our juniors to flourish, whether it’s recreationally or competitively. For our most talented juniors, we have the Sarah Campion Squash Academy, this is a sponsored programme, the players are hand picked and it gives our most talented and committed junior players the opportunity to explore the game in more detail and discover their potential. It provides them with a sponsored academy training session every week. As a result we now have a very healthy junior section, and are producing some of the countries best junior players as well as numerous county players. Our development pathway takes toddlers through to national champions.

Hand-Eye Heroes

This class addresses the fundamentals of movement and is designed to start developing hand-eye coordination from a very early age. We want to give your little ones the best possible start, for an enjoyable and successful life in sport! Weekday classes available from age 2+

School Holiday Camps

Squash camp days are available during the school holidays, typically these days are from 10am-3pm, or 10am-12pm for under 6’s.

During the camp, we work primarily on building squash skills, however there is also work on general hand eye coordination, movement literacy, fitness, tactical awareness and teamwork. These components will not only help your child improve their squash, but aid in helping the juniors become all round accomplished sportsmen and women! All camps take place in a relaxed, friendly and welcoming environment.

Adults Squash

Adult Beginner Courses

These popular courses are available to members and non members. They are brilliant introduction to squash for complete beginners and are a great chance for players who have played in the past to re-introduce themselves to the sport. During the 6 weeks you will be taught the basics of squash technique, starting with the correct grip. You will learn a variety of different shots, body positioning and movement. By the 6th week you should feel equipped to play matches and enjoy playing the game at a higher level.

Club Night

Club night is a chance for the whole Squash community to get involved and play together in a relaxed and sociable environment. It’s a playing based session and great for new members to come along and meet a few new friendly faces.

Squash Specific Circuit Training

Prepare your body for the demands of squash and squash 57 as well as improve your general overall fitness. It’s an all round workout that combines cardiovascular and muscular strength, endurance, agility and balance. Working to music and in a group makes pushing yourself easier! This class is appropriate for all ages and abilities, you can work at your own pace and exercises can be adjusted to suit the ability level.

Squash 57

Queens have an active Squash 57 community, who take part in weekly social mix ins. There are mini leagues for members and we operate 2 teams representing Queens in the local league.

Squash 57 uses a bouncier ball and a shorter racket than squash. It’s a easy to pick up and is a fantastic workout!

Mini leagues and challenge ladder

Why not challenge yourself to climb the clubs rankings using the challenge ladder, or join our internal mini leagues? The mini leagues give you new opponents to play per month, they are a great way to fix up games and meet new players within the club.

Club tournaments and social events

There are a great many events that are run throughout the year, these are open to all members for no additional cost. They include handicapped events for squash and squash 57 as well as the club championships.

Ladies Squash

We are well known for the numerous #SquashGirlsCan campaigns that we’ve run, and we love to celebrate Women's Squash Week each year too. As a result have plenty of female players using our courts and having lots of fun in the process! As well as our ladies only class, we have a team competing in the local league. Our mix ins are exactly that, and club nights, beginner courses, mini leagues and all our classes have female and junior players taking part. We are a very inclusive and friendly club.

Team Squash

We have 11 representative teams, 9 who compete locally in Calderdale and Kirklees and 2 who compete further afield in Yorkshire. We’ve had great success locally and have dominated division 1, winning repeatedly over the last few years. Our teams span all the divisions and so opportunities for anyone wanting to play team squash.

World Class Squash

Over the last few decades, Queens members have been entertained by the World's best players competing on our newly named show court, The Ken Davidson Court. This court has fondly been referred to as one of the best courts in the World, not just for how truly it plays, but for the fantastic atmosphere that it creates, within it "bear pit" style setting.

In our most recent exhibition event we welcomed the current World No.1 (April 2022) and 2 x British Open Champion Paul Coll From New Zealand, and Yorkshire's former world No.1 James Willstrop. What an evening it was.

Yorkshire Premier League

This is our crowning glory and brings top class squash players into the club for the benefit of all our members. During the season between the months of October and March, we have a team made up of mostly paid professionals who represent Queens in Yorkshire’s premier league. Our home fixtures are a chance for our members to watch professional squash and enjoy the camaraderie of supporting our players.

ProShop & Racket restringing service

You can buy all squash related equipment from the pro shop, please contact Sarah with enquiries or to make an appointment. We operate a restringing service. Please leave your racket, name and number at reception and we will be in touch with string options and to find out your preferred tension.
