A warm welcome to Queens Sport and Fitness Club!

Induction

We’re delighted that you have chosen to join our sport and fitness community. As a new member, we’d like to invite you to arrange an induction to the club. This an opportunity to be shown around all our facilities, understand how our online booking system works, and to have an overview of and to learn about all the events, classes and sessions being run at the club.

Please get in touch to arrange a date and time to meet for your induction – queenssportsclubreception@gmail.com

Facilities

With a newly refurbished Gym, excellent tennis and squash facilities and a highly experienced coaching team to suit any level from complete beginner, there is so much to offer in a friendly, social and inclusive club environment. What’s more, we have a fully licenced bar with room hire available for parties of up to 120 people. It’s here we run our social events, quizzes and live entertainment. With our large outside balcony overlooking the outdoor tennis courts, it’s a great place to have a drink and catch up with your friends after playing or working out. Keep an eye out for our regular club events update and remember to sign up to the weekly newsletter here.

So that you can access all these facilities from day 1, the only thing left to do is to collect a key fob from the club reception.

Squash

A big welcome from the Squash & Racketball department. As you will see from the website we have lots of classes, events and activities on offer for all ages and abilities. Whether you are a total beginner, casual player or you’re striving to achieve excellence, we can assist you on your journey. We have lessons available for adults of every level and children from the age of 2. Our junior development pathway is now very established and we are producing some of the country’s best junior players. Please contact head coach Sarah Campion with any enquiries: sarahkippax@yahoo.co.uk or 07968 323980

Squash Court Etiquette -

Please always ensure that you play in sports kit and importantly use appropriate shoes with clean non marking soles, ideally indoor court shoes. Please leave water bottles outside the court to avoid any spillages and remove any chewing gum before you play. We take pride in our facilities and really appreciate your cooperation with maintaining our court floors.

At Queens our Squash and Racketball playing members value our ethos of respect, friendship and great sportsmanship on and off the court. Squash is a sport you can enjoy for life and we hope you enjoy playing with us at Queens.

Tennis

We are really pleased to hear from members who wish to be a part of tennis at Queens and we want to help you to find the appropriate sessions and support for developing your game; whether that is just socially with friends or you have aspirations to play more competitively and perhaps join our teams.

There is an extensive club programme on offer to our members which runs both indoors and outdoors all year round. Our coaches run a range of group sessions for beginners, improvers and more advanced players so hopefully there is a coaching session for you. We also have an active social tennis scene within the club and Team training for those who are representing the club in the local leagues.

On our junior programme is growing significantly; we run LTA mini red, orange and green sessions which help young players to develop the fundamental coordination and movement skills associated with tennis. We run full ball sessions for our older juniors, which builds on the LTA Youth Programme and we pride ourselves on creating an inclusive environment for children of all ages and abilities to enjoy being active.

Our coaches are available for individual lessons alongside the group programme. If you are interested in finding out more please contact the coach directly to discuss availability.

For any programme related questions or anything else to do with our coaching then please get in touch with Laura Crabtree directly on queens@cv8tennis.com or 07830 208230

Tennis Court Etiquette -

It is important that every member is clear as to what is expected of them in order to create the right playing environment in which everyone can enjoy their tennis. Our full policy on court etiquette can be found on the Club website here. Both the code of conduct and the policy on court etiquette reflect the friendly and co-operative spirit which members at the Club have enjoyed for many years, as well as advice from the LTA.

In short, all members are expected to treat all other members and all other players respectfully. Two key policies to note are that we ask you to respect our courts by wearing clean footwear, and to respect players by waiting for break in play to cross the courts. We also request that there is no chewing gum or food taken / consumed on court and respectfully ask that place any rubbish in the bin provided - or even better take it home!

Junior

Racquet Members

Please note that our junior members receive access to free outdoor courts during off peak hours, if booked 1 hour before the session start time. Junior members are also allowed to play with a parent who is a social member. We have rackets that are available to borrow from reception, please kindly ensure you return them at the end of your session.

Gym

We promote a warm and friendly community available to all fitness levels, abilities and training backgrounds. Our enthusiastic and experienced coaches will always be on hand to offer guidance and a safe environment.

New members who want to use the gym are required by the terms of our insurance to book an appointment for an induction session with a Fitness Professional of the Club. We are keen to show every member how to use the equipment in the gym safely and effectively. This is the members’ responsibility and can be arranged by email prior to their first Gym visit.

Please note that the Club does not accept anybody under the age of 16 in Courtside Gym, unless accompanied by a qualified Coach associated with Queens Sports Club. Members aged between 16-18 year must not use any equipment in Courtside Gym without a full induction. We ask that Gym equipment is treated with respect and request that you do not drop weights, they are replaced after use and that members wipe down machines and equipment after use.

Please speak to the Gym team for any training advice. Personal training is available on request, please contact the Club.
